CMYK Color Compass

A CMYK color wheel on a 8.5 by 5.5 postcard.

I created the CMYK compass because the color picker in my graphics editor confused me. I learn best by building things.

I modeled my compass after Johannes Itten's color wheel — a segmented, regular hexagon within a circle that is divided into twelve, equal segments. Unlike Itten, I do not claim this color wheel to be a universal color model.

My color wheel displays an abbreviated range of the U.S. Web coated (SWOP) v2 color profile. Its purpose is not to replace color management but to help myself and others navigate the CMYK color space.
